Instructional Facilitator of Computer Science
Computer Science Department
As one of two Elementary Instructional Facilitators of Computer Science, I cover nine schools throughout Loudoun County. I work with Waxpool Elementary which is the only PBL through the lens of Computational Thinking school in the entire county. I also work with the only three Computer Science Immersion schools in the county where coding is integrated into each school day. At my other five schools, I work with administrators and staff to build the CS/CT culture in their school while working with educators to integrate the Virginia Computer Science SOLs into the weekly curriculum. Along with my team, we hold weekly professional development sessions on using Minecraft, Scratch, LEGO, and various other resources to promote computer science and computational thinking. I have presented at FETC, ISTE, Inspire Loudoun, and the Code to the Future Summit on the benefits of using computer science in the classroom. I am excited to present at VSTE this year and also attend as many sessions as possible in order to grow my knowledge base.
